Living so close to “The Curragh of Kildare”, you cannot help but love the landscape and the everyday activity of racehorses out for a gallop. From early in the morning, hail, rain or shine you see horses emerging from their stables and to begin their daily run out either on the Racecourse itself or the surrounding Curragh Plains. I have captured some memorable shots over the years of the racehorses and their riders either in full gallop or leisurely stroll with the Iconic Curragh Camp in the background.
Equine photography is one of my favorites as horses have so much character and are so beautiful and majestic. I have had the pleasure of visiting stables on the Curragh to get up close to the horses with my camera and have developed a technique after photographing horses in a stable or a yard, capturing with the available light and developing them into stunning portraits.
A recent commission of a beautiful retired racehorse and now a family member of a lovely family.
“Absolutely thrilled with the beautiful commission of Dad’s ‘Won in the Dark’. Damien really managed to capture his personality – A real work of art!” – Pamela, Naas.
A shoot can take an hour or two to complete depending on the horse and making sure we have the right look and pose. You can also have a photo shoot for your horse running and jumping in a field or just casually grazing.
Or why not get a portrait of you and your beloved horse or pony together to treasure forever.
If you would like a stunning portrait of your horse for your wall, family member or friend, please contact me through contact form at the end of this page and I would be only too delighted to have a chat about what shots you require.
